Lessons from My Battle: Empowerment Through Adversity
Navigating the roles of a nurturing mother, entrepreneur, inspired author, and dedicated Mindset Coach has been a transformative journey for me. Each challenge has acted as a catalyst for growth, deepening my commitment to helping women and busy mothers rediscover their authentic selves. This mission is deeply personal, born from my own continuous journey of self-improvement.
My journey took a profound turn when I was diagnosed with High Risk Multiple Myeloma. This diagnosis brought unexpected lessons in resilience and self-discovery.
Here are a few transformative insights I’ve gained from this experience:
Cultivating a Positive Inner Dialogue
Throughout my treatment, I learned the crucial importance of nurturing a kind, supportive inner dialogue. Regardless of how many people are around to support you, we need to be our own best cheerleaders. Something I have been working on for a few years. Unfortunately, I can't say it is something I have completely conquered.
Replacing self-criticism with affirmations and compassion helped me dismantle internal barriers and embrace a mindset of positivity and fulfillment. Speaking to myself with kindness became a lifeline, allowing me to lift myself, stay grounded and hopeful even in the toughest moments.
Moving Beyond the Victim Mindset
My illness challenged me to break free from feeling powerless. By taking ownership of my life and choices, bit by bit, I learned to face other life challenges with resilience and determination. Not allowing myself to feel like a victim but a warrior shifted my mindset to one of empowerment in other areas of my life as well and it has been liberating. I hope this lesson empowers you too, reminding you that even in the face of adversity, you have the strength to overcome and thrive.
Establishing Firm Personal Boundaries
Recognizing my worth and needs has been essential. It was critical to shift from my people pleasing behavior to one of setting and communicating clear boundaries with others. It did not only protect my energy but also fostered a healthier, more respectful relationship with myself and others. Learning to say no when necessary and prioritizing self-care allowed me to maintain balance and focus on what truly matters and let go of guilt and self criticism.
Embracing the Art of Intentional Living
Living intentionally, even through the smallest daily routines, has allowed me to engage with life’s challenges with clarity and wisdom. This practice of intentionality, or mindfulness has been a game changer, reducing stress and enhancing my emotional well-being. Being present in the moment and making deliberate choices has enriched my life in ways I never imagined.
